Let's Work Together

Together, we can grow the movement to end food insecurity and empower communities, paving the way toward brighter futures in India and beyond. Find out more details below about how to become a nonprofit partner of Rise Against Hunger India.

NGO PARTNERSHIPS

With the recent changes in the Foreign Contributions Regulation Act (FCRA), Rise Against Hunger India has revised its partnership processes. Field units are being set up to deliver programs and projects in the communities as fund transfers to local organizations are prohibited under the new amendments. In these locations, we will be working with local organizations who have established strong community relationships and can play a very crucial role in building community connect. Our partnership for executing community projects will depend purely on the local context.

However, we do partner with organizations for our Nourishing Lives and Emergency Relief programs. Organizations running schools, orphanages, homes for the disabled and other vulnerable groups can partner with us to receive our fortified nutritious meals (this will be direct in-kind support with no fund transfers involved).

Before empaneling an organization for partnership, we undertake a due-diligence and field scrutiny process that assesses the capabilities of the organizations including their ability to provide regular reporting on the services rendered to the communities. If you are interested in partnership with Rise Against Hunger India, read the sections below and complete the application process.

PROSPECTIVE PARTNERS

At Rise Against Hunger India, we believe healthy, educated and empowered communities are the key to ending world hunger. We invest our food and other aid in programs that teach children and adults, or that provide health care and other services. These programs promote well-being and equip participants with the skills and knowledge to become active participants in the workforce and in their communities. For crisis response, we keep ourselves ready by having a list of pre-screened credible partner organizations that are able to respond quickly and effectively to support those who suffer through crises of all types, natural or man-made.

To learn more about this and other partnership opportunities (meal distribution, crisis response and other engagements), please read below.

Nourishing Lives (Food and Safety Net Assistance) Partnership Opportunities

Rise Against Hunger India distributes about 70 percent of meals packaged annually to organizations that operate ongoing education, health and empowerment programs. The majority of our partners are largely from around urban locations, primarily because all our meal packaging events take place in city locations so organizing transport and logistics were the main issues. During the past year or so, we have started partnering with NGOs in rural areas. Over the next few years, we aim to direct our meals and food assistance programs to select hunger hot spots in the country.

NGOs interested in partnering with us (primarily receiving meals) are encouraged to fill out a signed application along with supporting documents to info@riseagainsthungerindia.org, and we will respond after reviewing.

Crisis Response Partnership Opportunities

Since its inception, Rise Against Hunger India has responded in times of crisis. We have been able to deliver food items and other life-saving items during natural disasters, primarily because of the strong network of partnerships that we have established on the ground. Partner NGOs bring direct contact and relationship with communities, and they are able to respond faster in a crisis situation due to proximity to the local communities. It helps us to have an active database of NGOs from across the country to be able to respond quickly when an emergency strikes.

How long does it take for Rise Against Hunger India to respond?

We normally take 2 to 3 weeks to review and respond to NGO applications. However, our support to partners is subject to availability of meals and other resources. So even if a partner has been taken on board, we may not be able to immediately provide meals. When meals become available, you will be informed by a Rise Against Hunger India representative.

How are meals transported?

Rise Against Hunger India normally distributes meals on a Just-in-Time basis which means meals are distributed to the partners directly from the event venue where meals are packaged. This is to avoid overheads on transportation, storage and other logistics. We provide enough supplies to a partner for 3 to 4 months supplies at one time (based on our prior agreement on the total beneficiaries and frequency of meals served). As stated above, approved partners are required to cover all costs associated with transportation. On certain situations, especially during crisis response and for partners in remote locations, we offer some support for transport and logistics on a case to case basis.

Does Rise Against Hunger India cover any of the cost of transporting food and other support?

As already explained above, Rise Against Hunger India does not currently cover transportation cost. Each partner is responsible for organizing their transport. We believe that this cost sharing promotes partner accountability and encourages them to treat food provision of Rise Against Hunger India as an investment and not a free donation.

What types of programs does Rise Against Hunger India target with their meals?

Rise Against Hunger India partners with NGOs that run programs that offer long-term solution and build sustainability beyond feeding the hungry. For example, our meals can be a great investment in ensuring school completion or in creating sustainable community assets (through food for work or similar programs).

Where do the meals come from and what are they made of?

Rise Against Hunger India meals are packaged by volunteer groups. These volunteers either personally or through their workplaces raise funds to pay for the full cost of the meals.

Rise Against Hunger India meals are dehydrated, high in protein and highly nutritious. They contain four ingredients–long grain white rice, lentils, dehydrated vegetable blend and a sachet of vitamin powder. Because the meal is fully dehydrated, it needs to be boiled in clean water to be eaten. You will find cooking instructions on each box of meals and on each bag of meals.

Does Rise Against Hunger India provide aid other than meals?

Rise Against Hunger India engages with local partners and community groups to further its mission of reducing food insecurity and improving nutrition. We have in the past, worked on areas such as provision of safe drinking water, organizing mobile medical vans, supplementary nutrition for pregnant mothers and children under 5.

Can I apply for a grant from Rise Against Hunger India?

We are not a grant making agency and therefore, we do not accept unsolicited grant requests.
